Our First Distribution
In August 2021, we collected over $600 which allowed us to purchase thousands of sanitary pads in order to fight against period poverty in Zambia, Africa. After shipment delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and logistical issues with customs, the shipment arrived at the end of April 2022. Members of Christ Lutheran Church in Fairfax, Virginia received the shipment and distributed the pads to a number of women in a village on the outskirt of the city of Ndola. Each woman received enough pads to last them a full year.
“For some of the women, these were the first pads they have ever had in their life. If this project continues it will improve the education standards of women and girls and it will give them the dignity that each one of them deserves as they go through the natural cycle of life, one that they have to go through just by virtue of being female; so this is a project that is worth supporting. Zambia has an increasing size of population of young girls whose future depends on the kind of support such as this one so we are so grateful for this initiative.” — Joint statement from Rev. Dr. Elijah Mwitanti and Kerris Mwitanti
All Things would like to thank Christ Lutheran Church for organizing the shipment, and Elijah and Kerris Mwitanti for their help in distributing the donations. Further, we thank the 24 donors for their generosity. We hope to continue to fight against period poverty together, inorder to make this world a better place for us all.
With a grateful heart,
